Scholarship Opportunity for female high school seniors

What is it? An opportunity to apply for an award given to female high school seniors in any of the visual arts.

Awards will be given at the 13th annual “Celebration of Women and Their Music” event on Saturday, February 20, 2010. Award winners must be able to attend this event.

The awards are as follows:

$500 Mary Jo Thompson “Celebration of Women and Their Music” Award
$250 Red River Counseling Visual Arts Award
$250 Dwight & Vicki Williams Award
$250 Vinz Writing Award
$250 “Dancing Queen” Award
$250 “Ekberg Goddess” Award

Awards have been given to a wide variety of young female artists including musicians, vocalists, dancers, folk singers, and visual artists; the awards committee is also interested in painters, photographers, sculptors (i.e., any of the visual arts), writers, dramatists, theater technicians, culinary artists, etc. The application process is easy. Just download the awards application form and the submission of work form below, fill them out, and send them in with the appropriate material for being judged by the application deadline.

The “Celebration of Women and Their Music” annual event at the historic Fargo Theatre features regional women performing a variety of musical genres from jazz to classical to folk. Each year new artists participate in the show along with select returning favorites from previous years.
