Saturday!!! Mackenzie Kouba Artist Reception @ Upfront!!!
Painting and Sculpture by Mackenzie Kouba
Exhibit Dates: March 9 – April 3rd
Reception: Saturday, March 13th, 6pm-11pm
Refreshments *Mackenzie has created what is probably the strongest body of work that the Upfront has ever had the honor of exhibiting. Based on actual turn of the century sideshow characters, the exhibit explores our fascination, fear, and celebration of what it means to be “different”. Ostracized and exploited yet awed by the general public, these physical and social “oddities” lived their lives together in their circus sideshow communities. They succeeded in making a living and a life from the only means they had. Thus, Mackenzie has presented them in iconic format, suggesting that we have some lessons to learn in our lives about how we view the issues of normality vs individualism, fear of the different, and our sense of empathy. Do not miss this show!
